The DELTA (Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances) program, funded by the CDC, provides the foundational support for organizations like People’s Place to move beyond crisis intervention and into primary prevention. In Delaware, this funding powers initiatives like REAL Relationships, which engage youth directly to dismantle the cultural norms that allow relationship abuse to exist.
2025 DELTA programming recap
What an eventful year for the DELTA team! From hosting silly activities to presenting at a state-wide conference, we are proud of all of the work we’ve done. Below are some of our favorite prevention highlights from 2025:
- Spoke to UD students in the Advocacy, Community & Practice in DV Services class about the work that we do
- Presented at the DCADV’s Advocates’ Training and Networking Event with our presentation Students as Teachers: Lessons Learned from Youth through School-Based Prevention Programming
- Received a spotlight for the DVCC’s Eyes On Safety social media campaign, discussing teen dating violence
- Made 7 new connections in the community and 5 new school-related connections
Direct prevention programming to over 600 students in 2025!
Since 2023, when this round of DELTA funding began, direct programming has been provided to over 1,800 students. These numbers don’t even include our countless resource tables in schools and communities!
- Presented healthy relationships programming to two middle schools: George Read Middle School (New Castle) & Gunning Bedford Middle School (New Castle). We’re working on expanding into more middle schools this year!
- Hosted a resource table and workshop at Independent Living’s HOPE Conference for the second year in a row
- Attended the Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month proclamation signing in February, as well as the Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation signing in October
- Portrayed the likes of Steve Harvey, Alex Trebek, and the Miser Brothers at various People’s Place events
We are so excited to see what the next year has in store. Check out our Instagram to stay up to date on what we’re up to!
